The search for a new Head Coach is complete.
Following the resignation of Laura Barczak, Franklin High School has announced that Gabrielle Hood as accepted the position of Head Coach, effective immediately.
Hood, a 2018 graduate of Alverno College, is the career assists leader, 4th in career rebounding and 7th all-time in points scored. Most recently, Hood was an assistant coach at Racine Case High School.
Hood states that she is excited to work with the Youth program to advance Sabers Basketball to the next level.
Congratulations and welcome Coach Hood!
A huge THANK YOU to Coach Hood and the incredible Sabers Varsity and JV teams for bringing the energy and inspiration to this year’s Sabers Basketball Camp!
From August 4–6 at FHS, our youth players had an unforgettable experience. They worked hard on their fundamentals, competed in fun and fast-paced games, and—most importantly—looked up to the older players who led by example on and off the court.
The Varsity and JV athletes didn’t just show up—they showed what it means to be a team, a leader, and a Sabers role model. Their encouragement, enthusiasm, and dedication made a lasting impact on our younger players.
Our youth is our future—and thanks to this incredible weekend, that future looks stronger than ever!

Friday, January 10 was a landmark evening for FYGBA and the entire Girls Program!
The Sabers crowd joined our guests from Tremper to witness 50+ future FHS Sabers join our High Schoolers on the floor for warmups, starting lineups and the National Anthem.
Then random players from each team were represented in the first Hot Shot Competition during halftime, with Team Saber Strong winning Amazon and Starbucks gift cards. Three lucky FYGBA student-athletes also went home with some sweet FHS Sabers swag!
