Skills Camp with Watts and Diesel at the MOSH

Franklin Youth Girls Basketball is partnering with the professional trainers at Watts and Diesel (the MOSH) to offer skills sessions in June.  The 2-day camp will focus on shooting form, ball handling, and defense.

  • Session 1 is for players entering grades 3, 4, and 5.  The camp will be held on June 11 and June 13 from 4:00pm - 5:30pm
  • Session 2 is for players entering grades 6, 7, and 8.  The camp will be held on June 11 and June 13 from 5:30pm - 7:00pm

Location - The MOSH in Franklin

Cost -- $30/ player per day ($60 for both days)

Small Group Training (Momentum Basketball Academy)

Franklin Youth Girls Basketball is partnering with Momentum Basketball Academy to offer small group training over 6 weeks in June and July.  Momentum Basketball Academy sessions are taught by Laura Barczak, the new Franklin High School Girls Varsity Basketball Coach.  Each group will be comprised of 5-10 girls.  The 6-week program will be held Wednesday nights in June and July, with each week emphasizing a different skill -- ball handling, shooting, passing, finishing/post play, defense, and movement/decision making.

  • Session 1 is for players entering grades 4, 5, and 6.  The sessions will be held on June 19, 26, July 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 10:00am - 11:30am
  • Session 2 is for players entering grades 7 and 8.  The sessions will be held on June 19, 26, July 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 11:45am - 1:15pm

Location - Country Dale Elementary School

At Home Summer Shooting Challenge

All Franklin Youth Girls Basketball Players are eligible to participate in the Summer Shooting Challenge.  Complete the 25-minute shooting workout (linked below) 40x times (equates to 5,000 shots) throughout the summer and earn a free Sabers shirt.

The worksheet (linked below) has 40 rows on it -- with each row representing a 25-minute shooting workout that consists of lay-ups, jump shots, and free-throws.

  • Print the worksheet in the link below
  • Each row is a 25-minute shooting workout consisting of lay-ups, jump shots, and free-throws
  • Each time a player completes the workout, they can fill out the boxes in one of the rows on the worksheet (to track their shots)
  • Complete all 40 rows on the worksheet throughout the summer and earn a Sabers shirt (equates to about 3x times a week)
  • Players can turn in their worksheet to their coach or to Michael Milbeck (FYGBA president) any time before the end of tryouts in September

High School Skills Camp

The Franklin High School Girls Basketball coaches (and players) will host a basic skills camp that will cover all essential areas and skills of the game.  There will also be competitions held with prizes awarded.

Note - each player will receive a camp t-shirt

  • Session 1 is for players entering grades 4, 5, and 6.  The camp will be held on August 5, 6, and 7 from 9:00am - 11:30 am
  • Session 2 is for players entering grades 7 and 8.  The camp will be held on August 5, 6, and 7 from 12:00pm - 2:30pm

Location - Franklin High School

Cost -- $80 / player

August Offensive Skills Workshop

Franklin Youth Girls Basketball is partnering with Rise Up Basketball Academy to host an Offensive Skills Workshop in August (for Franklin Youth Girls Basketball Players).  The sessions will be hosted by Alyssa DiCicco, a former collegiate All-American and professional basketball player.  The 2-day workshop will focus on ball handling, moving the ball around the court, and finishing at the hoop.

  • Session 1 is for players entering grades 4, 5, and 6.  The camp will be held on August 22 and 23 from 1:00pm - 2:30 pm
  • Session 2 is for players entering grades 7 and 8.  The camp will be held on August 22 and 23 from 2:30pm - 4:00pm

Location - Country Dale Elementary School
